It's October, a lovely fall morning. The weather beckons us outside to the chickens and the garden. Our family has only had chickens for seven months, but somehow we ended up with over 50 of them: chicken math! Be sure to check out the whole story in the blog post. This fall has been quite a growing, learning time for us.

<![CDATA[The best Tomato Bisque Soup]]>Thu, 09 Jul 2020 19:26:27 GMThttp://mosunshinemaker.com/videos/the-best-tomato-bisque-soup
This summer, I had high hopes of the learning that the kids and I would do together… One “project” is that the Bigs would learn to cook a real meal. I haven’t done a very good job getting us to focus on much learning this summer, but all the kids love to cook with me; so, it wasn’t hard to convince William to help me with this recipe. This soup is so simple (the hardest part is chopping veggies in the beginning) and it is a great one to adjust and experiment with as you like! Be sure to read the blog post for the full recipe.

<![CDATA[First Time owners: Clippin' CHicken Wings]]>Mon, 29 Jun 2020 21:10:28 GMThttp://mosunshinemaker.com/videos/first-time-owners-clippin-chicken-wings
As first time chicken owners, we're have a problem keeping our flock inside the chicken yard. The yard isn’t completely enclosed - it’s a four foot fence with welded wire fencing. Now that the chickens are almost adults, they’ve been jumping over multiple times a day. We feel like we're constantly watching them through the window and we're worried about predators. There’s also the concern if they won't be able to get to their water once they've jumped over the fence. So, we clipped their wings! Having four little ones (the bigs were away for the day) running around wasn’t a distraction at all 😂. Do you have chickens? Have you clipped their wing(s)? How did it work out for you?
